Woo-hoo!

Well, I am happy (relieved!) to report that the paint choice has finally been made and painting is now well under way.

My next job is to remove this lovely but tiny sink and unit to make way for a nice big feltmaker's sink and to move the counter unit at the left so that I can re-install it further towards the front of the shop.

This next job will be a BIG test of my DIY skills, so wish me luck!

Decisions ... decisions ...

There are far too many lovely colours of paint to choose from.

Oh, and I'm not that great at decision making either.

And this is why I am up to tester pot number 10!!!

The shop walls are a fab patchwork of colours and I think I have more paint on the floor and on me than on the walls but I haven't had this much fun at work since I don't know when!

Hope your week is going well and you haven't been too badly affected by the bad weather :)

New Year ... New Beginnings

Happy New Year!

I wish you a year filled with peace, hope, health, happiness and joy :)

Well, 2012 was a funny old year - some good bits, some not so good bits, and some in-between bits - Mum was really ill; Morgan was ill too; I turned 40; lost my day job; held an exhibition; I was in and out of hospital; we had some wonderful trips; I finally got to visit my brother's restaurant; I had work featured in three exhibitions ... but most importantly I got to spend the Christmas and New Year holiday with the people I love most in the world, so the year came to a close with lovely shared times.

And now, it's a new year (again? how did that happen?) with a very big new beginning for me!

After losing my job in the Summer, a combination of illness/surgery/recovery for the rest of the year gave me a lot of time to consider my future. Thankfully, with Morgan's support, I am now self-employed :)

And, following many (many!) months of negotiation, I am exceptionally happy to share the first pic of my new shop!

I haven't fixed an opening date yet as there's still so much I want to get done.

So I will be off for now to go and make a start.

Promise to catch up with you all properly very soon :)x

Perth Christmas Craft Market

Saturday 24th November
10am to 6pm
King Edward Street, Perth

Unfortunately, I have had to pull out of this market as I'm having an op on Thursday.  I know ... could the timing be any worse?!

Anyway, the market looks like being a really good day out, so if you are within travelling distance of Perth ... get yourself there for a market full of talented makers and some medieval entertainment with archers, musicians, jesters, jugglers and even some knights re-enacting medieval scenes!

The Christmas Light Festival is also happening on Saturday so there will be additional entertainment from 12pm on the High Street culminating in a spectacular light show and performances on Tay Street from 6pm to 9pm.

The Christmas Craft Market also continues on Sunday 25th November, from 11am to 5pm.

Lagom Felt Studio

As is the way of all good things, so it is that fatcat felt is coming to an end as I move on to new things.

I 'll keep the fatcat felt website and facebook page open for a wee while yet, but would like to invite you to have a look at my new work-in-progress website at www.lagomfeltstudio.com and my new facebook page at www.facebook.com/lagomfeltstudio.

My new, full-time venture is Lagom Felt Studio and I hope to have lots more exciting news to share soon!

All comments and constructive feedback welcome :)

The Handmade Show

Thanks to everyone who stopped by my stall at The Handmade Show on Sunday.

Thanks also to Dawn Fuge for organising another great show.

I had a fab time catching up with Aileen Clarke from Aileen Clarke Crafts and meeting Dee from JammyThings and Linda from Couthie Designs.

Roll on the next market - Perth Christmas Market on 24th November, frantic making continues ... but I can't really complain as I have a huge mug of tea and the coal fire to keep me going :)
